International Women’s Day!
Humanitarian Award: This award recognizes the contributions of someone who has worked in the community to improve the lives and living conditions of other people in community throughout their life and who are devoted to the welfare of others. Community work may be demonstrated through: perfecting the nature of mankind, aiding those less fortunate, and/or eliminating the suffering and pain of others.
Entrepreneurship Award: This award recognizes the achievements of someone who best exemplifies the ideals of entrepreneurship by starting and successfully managing one or more businesses in a way that demonstrates notable entrepreneurial characteristics and achievements while practicing values in the workplace and in their lives.
Kindred Heart Award: The purpose of this award is to recognize the achievements of someone who has made the ultimate sacrifice for their family by demonstrating courage, passion, enthusiasm and generosity.

Frances L. Messer
President & CEO, NCALA
As NCALA’s President & CEO, Frances is responsible for planning and organizing all training and educational programs, growing the association’s membership by developing industry partnerships, and for advocating, on behalf of our members, at the NCGA. She is a graduate of Western Carolina University and has extensive experience in adult care. She has worked as a Director of Nursing and as an Administrator. She was President of Beacon Health Care Services, Inc, before joining the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services—Adult Care Licensure Section, in 2007, where she worked as a DHHS trainer. She has more than thirty years of experience training adults in the private sector and state government.
